The Time Portal is a device used on the Island of Time in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.

Abilities[]

Time Portals are located in different points of the Fortress of Time and are used by Kaileena, Shahdee and the Sand Creatures to move back and forth through various periods of time on the Island of Time.[1]

Each portal has a curtain of water over the door leading into the portal room. This prevents the Dahaka from chasing the Prince into the room, halting its pursuit and allowing the player to activate the portal, using four pressure plates located on the wall around the circular platform where a Sand Vortex resides. Once the pressure plates are activated, the user needs but stand in the center of the platform and be transported back to the present or past. If the player returns to a portal they have previously used, it will still be activated.[1]

From the perspective of the person using the portal, there is direct effect on the surrounding environment's architecture; the world either reverting back to its original state before the decay of time or its present, ruined and unkempt --- and how the Prince will traverse the landscape and solve the puzzle. From the perspective of an observer, the person using the portal floats up in the air and dissolves into the vortex in the middle of the platform; this is seen when Shahdee uses the first portal to return to the past, and again at the end of the game when Kaileena is forced through a portal by the Prince.[1]

History[]

Warrior Within[]

The Prince actives and uses a number of portals to travel from present to past and vice versa. Doing this allows him to gain sand tanks as well as powers. The portals eventually prove invaluable to him finally freeing himself from the Dahaka, as they allow him to transport Kaileena to the present and stop the Sands of Time from being formed in the past, going into the Hourglass, and eventually being taken by the Maharajah.

Trivia[]
