Rogue Prince of Persia is a 2D platformer game developed by Evil Empire and published by Ubisoft. It was revealed on April 10, 2024 during The Triple-i Initiative, with an early access date on May 14th 2024.[1]
Story[]
The Prince tries to save Persia from Hun invasion which was the result of his own actions. The Prince has a magical bola that allows him to try things differently should he fail and die.[2]
Gameplay[]
The game is a 2D platformer in the vein of the original Prince of Persia series, but has metroidvania and roguelite elements.[3] For instance, every time the Prince dies, the stage changes through procedural generation.[4] The gameplay features many acrobatic moves and traps to avoid.[5] The Prince has a wall run, a charged attack, a kick (useful for kicking enemies off cliffs or into spikes), a ranged attack that costs energy, and a ground pound. The Prince can also vault over enemies, allowing the Prince to stab them from behind. However, the vault costs massive amounts of energy. Heavily armored enemies are immune to kicking and stagger effects.[6]
Development[]
The game is developed by Evil Empire, who are known for their previous roguelite Dead Cells game.[3] The game was first reported on by Insider Gaming on April 3, 2024,[7] and formally revealed on April 10.[3]
