Prince of Persia[]
Jaffar's Betrayal[]
The Sultan lived and governed over Astrabad. At the request Osman the First the Sultan left his kingdom to fight in a foreign land, and left his Grand Vizier Jaffar to rule in his stead.[4] The Sultan's only daughter fell in love with a young traveler who visited her at the palace.[5]
This did not please the Sultan's grand Vizier, Jaffar, who wanted to marry the Princess himself. In the Sultan's absence, Jaffar attempted to seize the power of his throne. He kidnapped the Princess and ordered his guards that the Prince be thrown into the dungeons.
Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame[]
Following Jaffar's death at the hands of the Prince, the Sultan offered to give the Prince any reward he asked. The Prince asked for his daughter's hand in marriage and though reluctant, the Sultan allowed them to be married at his daughter's request.[6]
Eleven days after their marriage, Jaffar was revived by a Witch and he takes the identity of the Prince. The Sultan is later called away to a battle again. In his absence, the Prince kills Jaffar.[6]
Prince of Persia 3D[]
Assan the Sultan's younger brother, whom had been distant with his older brother, invited the Sultan and his family to visit his Kingdom and take a vacation in his palace. The Sultan, eager to smooth over familial relations with his little brother and smooth diplomatic relations between their two kingdoms, silenced the Prince's objections and insisted they visit.
Though the Prince was initially apprehensive, the vacation to Assan's Kingdom seemed to be going well as the Sultan seemed to finally re-connect with his estranged brother as his daughter and son-in-law enjoyed their alone time, though Assan's son and Sultan's nephew, Rugnor was mysteriously absent throughout the visit.
However one night, Assan requested his male guests see a special event in his palace, bar the Princess as the entertainment was deemed unsuitable for a married woman. As the Sultan, the Prince and their guards attended the event, Assan presented a Belly Dancer whom started an alluring sword dance, however she suddenly revealed herself as an assassin and killed the Sultan's body guards as the Prince's was locked in the dungeon by Assan's Guards and the Sultan was taken by Assan.[3]
The Sultan tried to confront Assan, but Assan was adamant that the Sultan of Astrabad honor his promise to marry his daughter to Assan's monstrous son, Rugnor. The Prince manages to find the two, but whilst the Sultan was trying to explain his promise to the Prince and tried to offer the Prince any woman in his kingdom in exchange for not marrying the Princess. As the Prince refused, the Sultan noticed his brother preparing to throw a dagger and jumped in front of the blade meant for the prince. Before the Sultan dies in the Prince's arms, he reveals that the pact between him and his brother was now null and void with his death, telling the Prince that he and his daughter are destined for one another.[3]

Notes[]
- It is heavily implied that the Sultan was unaware of Rugnor's nature as a monster as it is stated few people have seen Rugnor and the Princess is clearly shocked to see Rugnor's appearance.
