Darius was the King of Persia.
Biography[]
Darius was the King of Persia, who rules the Empire from Mount Qaf, where the royal family also had its palace.[1] The King hired Maryam to be the royal architect who built all kinds of contraptions and city fortifications.[2]
During his reign he divided the land into provinces known as satrapies, which were governed by loyal satraps. He was known as a kind King who used diplomacy to forged trade alliances with invaders.[3]
The goddess Kaheva once forged Darius a sword as she considered him to be honorable ruler.[3]
King Darius met a commoner herbalist Azadeh when he fell ill. Azadeh spent weeks healing Darius, and spent the time telling him stories of her travels. The time spent together made Darius fell in love with the woman. The king married Azadeh, and she showed the same benevolence for the people and was loved for it. Azadeh however died during the childbirth, but gave the King a sole heir, Vahram.[4]
During the Simurgh ceremony for Vahram, Thomyris betrayed them and killed Vahram, and wounded the King. With his last breaths Darius used the Cup of Jamshid in an attempt to save Vahram. This shattered Vahram into two beings, and trapped Mount Qaf in a time curse.[3]
King Darius was laid to rest on the Tower of Silence as per the tradition.[3]
When adult Vahram returned to Mount Qaf to become a god, King Darius sensing the betrayer's blood in Sargon was awakened from death. He promised to protect his son even in death. Darius was defeated by Sargon, and he gave him the Key to the Simurgh gate.[3]
