Assan is the Sultan's younger brother, ruler of a distant land^[3].

Biography

Assan took part in the wedding of his brother's daughter, though he rarely smiled, and left the festivities early^[3].

Assan invites the Sultan and his family to his palace^[4]. He attempts to imprison the Prince, but he escapes and goes after Assan^[5].

It turns out that Assan and Sultan had a pact that the Princess would marry Assan's son Rugnor. Assan attempts to kill the Prince, but the Sultan blocks the blow, and is killed. Assan flees and his fate is unknown after this^[5].
